Privacy Policy

Overview

SearchEd is a directory of Pennsylvania public school teaching jobs. Browsing the directory does not require an account and does not collect any personal information. This policy covers what happens if you choose to create an account.

What we collect

If you create an account, we collect:

• Your email address, used to sign in and to send job-alert emails you opt into.
• Your password, if you sign up with email/password. We never see or store it in plain text - it is handled entirely by our authentication provider, Supabase, using standard salted hashing.
• If you sign in with Google, the name and email address Google shares with us as part of that sign-in.
• Any filters you choose to save (county, district, category, and similar search preferences) and whether you've opted into alerts for them.

We do not collect payment information - SearchEd has no paid features. We do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell or rent any personal information to anyone.

How we use it

• To let you sign in and manage your saved filters.
• To send you the job-alert emails you've opted into, and nothing else.
• To keep the service running securely - for example, detecting abuse of the sign-up flow.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run SearchEd. Each acts only as a data processor on our behalf, under their own privacy and security commitments - none of them get to use your data for their own purposes:

• Supabase - hosts our database and handles authentication (including Google sign-in).
• Resend - delivers job-alert emails on our behalf, if you opt in.
• Google - only if you choose to sign in with Google, to verify your identity.

We do not share your data with any other third party, and we never sell it.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to comply with a valid request from law enforcement or a government regulator.

Cookies

If you have an account, we use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your account information, but no system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee against unauthorized access, and no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Your controls

You can review your account email and delete your account at any time from Account settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and saved filters. Every alert email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

Children's privacy

SearchEd is intended for adults seeking teaching employment and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
