Spanish Teacher Position Overview A Spanish teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in the Spanish language and culture, helping students develop proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while fostering global awareness. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Teach Spanish courses (beginner through advanced levels) aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study Develop lesson plans that incorporate grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural understanding Use a variety of instructional strategies (immersion, communicative methods, technology integration) Student Engagement & Assessment Assess student progress through quizzes, tests, projects, and oral evaluations Provide timely feedback and adjust instruction based on student needs Promote active participation and real-world language use Classroom Environment Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies Support diverse learners, including students with special needs and English learners Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents Participate in professional development and staff meetings Maintain accurate records (grades, attendance, lesson plans) Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or related field Valid North Carolina teaching license in Spanish (K–12), issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish (oral and written) Preferred Teaching experience Experience with language-learning technology tools Skills & Competencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills Cultural competence and global awareness Classroom management and organizational skills Ability to differentiate instruction DISCLAIMER The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
