Band Teacher

Title: Middle School Social Studies Teacher Reports to: Principal Terms of Employment: 11 Months Supervises N/A Salary: State Salary Position Summary Halifax County Schools is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Band Teacher to lead and grow a comprehensive instrumental music program. The ideal candidate will foster musicianship, discipline, teamwork, and school spirit through engaging instruction and performance opportunities. Responsibilities Plan and deliver standards-aligned instrumental music instruction Direct concert band and/or symphonic band ensembles Organize and direct performances, concerts, and school events Prepare students for adjudications, festivals, and competitions Develop students’ technical skills, music literacy, and performance etiquette Maintain inventory and care of instruments and equipment Collaborate with colleagues and communicate with parents Participate in school duties, meetings, and professional development Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field Valid North Carolina Department of Public Instruction teaching license in Music (K–12) Strong instrumental performance background and conducting skills Ability to manage rehearsals and classroom behavior effectively Willingness to support after-school rehearsals and performances Preferred Experience directing middle or high school band programs Experience with marching band, jazz band, or chamber ensembles Knowledge of NC music standards and adjudication processes Disclaimer The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
