Position Details

POSITION: Basic Skills Instructor (Grades K�5) � Tenure Track - Anticipated Opening LOCATION: William Mason Elementary School REPORTS TO: Building Principal / Director of Curriculum & Instruction START DATE: January 4, 2027 JOB SUMMARY: The District is seeking a qualified, dedicated, and flexible educator to serve as a Basic Skills Instructor for grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade. The successful candidate will support the district's instructional program by assessing academic deficiencies in identified K�5 students, planning targeted remediation in reading and mathematics, and implementing individual student improvement plans. The teacher will conduct individual and school-wide assessments to evaluate levels and targeted interventions by analyzing student data and conferring with classroom teachers to select appropriate goals and instructional materials. The candidate must be flexible with scheduling and work cooperatively with staff to create a seamless transition for pull-out and push-in program models. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid New Jersey Elementary School Teacher certification required. Previous experience as a Basic Skills Instructor (BSI) preferred. Strong foundation for teaching reading and remediating phonics and phonological awareness deficits in primary grades. Demonstrated ability to analyze student data, select targeted goals, and implement appropriate instructional materials and remediations. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with general education teachers and staff for push-in and pull-out instruction. Knowledge of evidence-based instructional, assessment, and intervention practices in reading and mathematics. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and classroom-management skills. Successful completion of all required New Jersey public school employment requirements, including criminal history background check pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1 and applicable medical/TB requirements. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Salary Range: $60,702 � $110,232 annually, in accordance with the current negotiated salary guide. Actual placement on the guide depends upon verified educational credentials and applicable teaching experience. Tenure Track: This is a full-time, tenure-track teaching position subject to applicable New Jersey tenure laws and the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
