Special Education Teacher Autistic Support -LTS
Chichester School District is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. This position is aimed at inspiring and challenging students in a supportive and innovative learning environment. This position will cover two employee leaves, both are Autistic Support classrooms. If the candidate accepts both assignments which will run in succession from November through the end of the school year in June, and be hired by the district as a Long Term Substitute. If the candidate does not accept both positions, they would be hired for onely one of the positions as an Extended Term Substitute through our substitute staffing agency, ESS. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing students’ individualized Special Education plans. Timely submission, preparation, and implementation of special education documentation, programming, and paperwork including IEPs, RRs, NOREPs, Invitations to Participate, progress monitoring, data collection, etc. Collecting data, and monitoring and evaluating student progress Consulting and assisting staff needing guidance to support students with a learning disability Sharing instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion Leading IEP meetings Using data to write IEP goals Coordinating and facilitating parent meetings Appropriately instructing students requiring learning and/or other support as needed Participating in professional development Completing and developing Functional Behavioral Assessments and writing Positive Behavior Support Plans Instructing students in small or large groups Planning lessons, implementing programs, and differentiating instruction Complying with federal, state, and local special education regulations Providing itinerant, supplemental, and/or full time levels of support All other duties as assigned by district administration Providing additional support to the students within a general education classroom Plan, organize, and implement engaging lessons in all core subjects including Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies, in line with the state curriculum. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and offer differentiated instruction to support individual student needs. Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and staff to create a supportive learning community. Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with parents/guardians. Participate in professional development and school activities. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education Required. PA certification in Special Education is also required. Autism Endorsement preferred Criminal history and child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 151) and FBI Fingerprinting Clearance required. Previous experience teaching in an Autistic Support program is preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Passion for teaching and inspiring students. Prior experience working with students with behavioral health challenges within a school setting preferred. Why Chichester School District?
