Position Details

Capital School District POSITION: Long Term Substitute Teacher (PreK-K) — temporary for the 2026–2027 SY (Reported Time / Substitute / Pension-Bearning) LOCATION: Fairview Early Childhood Center SALARY: Commensurate with appropriate schedule Position Overview Capital School District is seeking dedicated, adaptable educators for the role of Long Term Substitute Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The selected candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, foster a supportive learning environment, and maintain classroom continuity in alignment with District guidelines and Board of Education policies. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum: Teach assigned classes using state and district curriculum guidelines; plan and execute lessons that accommodate diverse student needs, interests, and learning abilities. Data-Driven Teaching: Analyze educational data from various sources to adjust instructional methods and continuously improve student performance. Classroom Management & Safety: Maintain a safe, healthy, and positive learning environment; encourage positive behavior and independent study habits; protect school property and equipment. Student Support: Identify students with special learning needs and take appropriate actions; promote students' self-worth and academic progress. Communication & Collaboration: Regularly communicate academic and behavioral progress with students and parents/guardians; maintain professional, cooperative relationships with school personnel. Administrative & Professional Duties: Maintain accurate records, complete required reporting, attend scheduled workdays punctually, pursue ongoing professional growth, and perform other duties assigned by administration to support student success. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree or higher with a minimum GPA of 2.5 from an accredited institution Certification: State Teacher Certification (Preferred) Physical & Mobility Requirements:Ability to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday Minimum lifting requirement of 50 lbs (with assistance) Full, unrestricted use of arms and hands to support the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students Application Procedures Interested applicants must submit an online teaching application and attach the following documents: Letter of Interest Resume Official or Unofficial Transcripts Teaching Certification (if applicable) Please Note: Prior application submissions will not automatically transfer to this posting.
