POSITION: Vice Principal (Preschool - Grade 8) TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months and 2 weeks LOCATION: Sussex County New Jersey Franklin Borough School 50 Washington Avenue Franklin NJ 07416 AVAILABLE: January 4, 2027 POSITION OVERVIEW The Franklin Borough School District in Sussex County, New Jersey, seeks a student-centered, collaborative, and forward-thinking educational leader to serve as Vice Principal for Preschool through Grade 8. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal, staff, students, and families to support a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that promotes academic achievement and the social-emotional growth of all students. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a commitment to effective instruction, positive school culture, student success, and the ongoing improvement of the school community. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Certification: Must hold or be eligible for a valid New Jersey Standard Principal Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (CE) Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, preferably spanning both early childhood/elementary and middle school grade bands. Prior special education experience as well as school leadership and supervisory experience is preferred. Skills: Strong knowledge of NJ Student Learning Standards (NJSLS), early childhood education best practices, PBSIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying) regulations, and data-driven instruction. Clearances: Required criminal history background check, proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status, and NJ residency required within one year of hire per the New Jersey First Act. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Leadership: Assist the Principal in supervising and evaluating instructional and support staff and promoting effective teaching and learning practices aligned with district goals and evaluation requirements. Student Support & Discipline: Support a positive, safe, and inclusive school environment by addressing student needs and behavior, promoting positive relationships, and implementing appropriate student support, restorative, and behavioral practices. Operations & Management: Assist with the day-to-day administration and operation of the school, including scheduling, district/state reporting, HIB procedures, student supervision, assessment and testing coordination, attendance, safety procedures, student activities, and athletics. Support the effective implementation of school and district policies, programs, and procedures. Community Engagement: Build positive, collaborative relationships with parents, community stakeholders, and the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). Communicate effectively and contribute to a strong partnership between the school, families, and the community. School Improvement & Leadership: Assist the Principal in advancing school goals, initiatives, and improvement efforts. Contribute to a positive school culture focused on student achievement, staff development, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
