Position Details

This position is for a long term substitute effective mid-October through the end of the 2026-2027 school year. POSITION SUMMARY: Provides classroom instruction and support for students. The long-term substitute maintains a positive and supportive learning environment, manages classroom routines and student behavior, and communicates effectively with school staff and families as appropriate. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides classroom instruction in accordance with lesson plans, curriculum, and instructional expectations. Plans and implements daily lessons and learning activities that support student learning, engagement, and academic progress. Maintains a safe, positive, and respectful classroom environment that promotes student learning and appropriate behavior. Establishes and maintains classroom routines and procedures, including attendance, transitions, and daily classroom operations. Monitors student behavior and manages the classroom using appropriate and consistent strategies in accordance with school and division expectations. Assesses and monitors student understanding and progress, providing feedback and communicating concerns to appropriate school staff. Maintains accurate classroom records, including attendance, grades, assignments, and other required documentation as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. Communicates effectively with students, families, teachers, and school administrators regarding student needs, classroom activities, and academic or behavioral concerns, as appropriate. Collaborates with school staff and support personnel to address student academic, behavioral, and instructional needs. Provides appropriate support and accommodations for students in accordance with established plans, classroom expectations, and school procedures. Follows all school and division policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including requirements related to student supervision, confidentiality, and mandated reporting. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree is preferred. Collegiate Professional Teaching Certificate is preferred. Teaching endorsement required for assignment is preferred.
