Social Studies Teacher
Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our team at Oxford Area High School. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore and understand the complexities of society, history, geography, and government. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, engaging students in critical thinking, and promoting civic responsibility. Responsibilities - Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines. - Teach a variety of social studies subjects, including history, geography, economics, and civics, to students in grades 9-12. - Create a classroom environment that encourages student participation, discussion, and critical analysis of social issues. - Assess and evaluate student performance through various methods, including tests, projects, and presentations. - Provide individualized support and guidance to students to help them achieve their academic goals. - Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning experiences. - Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives. - Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. - Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and best practices. - Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities and events. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree - Valid PA teaching certification in Social Studies. - Strong knowledge of social studies content and effective teaching strategies. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. - Proficiency in using technology for instruction and assessment. - Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development. - Experience working with diverse student populations is a plus. - Strong organizational and time management skills.
