Position Details

The Assistant Elementary Principal supports the Principal in providing instructional, organizational, and cultural leadership for the school. The position promotes high-quality teaching and learning, a safe and supportive environment, effective student-support systems, positive relationships with families and staff, and consistent implementation of district goals, Board policies, and applicable law. 1.Partner with the Principal to establish, communicate, and implement school goals aligned with ELCO’s Comprehensive Plan, district priorities, and building improvement needs. 2.Serve as a visible, accessible, relationship-centered leader who builds trust with students, employees, families, and community members. 3.Support instructional improvement through classroom walkthroughs, observation and feedback, collaborative planning, professional learning, and other supervision/evaluation responsibilities. 4.Promote coherent implementation of district curriculum, instructional expectations, assessment practices, and elementary literacy priorities. 5.Analyze and use multiple sources of data to identify needs, monitor progress, and guide school improvement actions. 7.Promote a safe, orderly, welcoming, and student-centered school climate; administer student discipline fairly and consistently in accordance with law, Board policy, the student handbook, due-process requirements, and district expectations. 8.Monitor student attendance and chronic-absenteeism concerns and coordinate appropriate interventions and family outreach with school and district personnel. 9.Assist with supervision and development of professional and support staff, including mentoring, 10.Support recruitment, selection, onboarding, assignment, scheduling, and coverage of staff as delegated by the Principal. 11.Coordinate or support the administration of state and local assessments, testing logistics, accommodations, data integrity, and appropriate use of results. 12.Support compliance and effective programming for students with disabilities, students with Section 504 plans, English learners, gifted students, and other students requiring specialized services. 13.Communicate proactively and professionally with families; respond to concerns in a timely manner; and strengthen family/community partnerships that support student success. 14.Support implementation of school safety, emergency-response, crisis-management, and threat-assessment procedures as assigned. 15.Assist in planning and supervising school operations, student arrival/dismissal, assemblies, field trips, extracurricular or family events, schedules, building use, and other activities. 16.Assist the Principal with building budget development, resource allocation, purchasing, inventories, and stewardship of district facilities, materials, and technology. 17.Maintain confidentiality and accurate records; comply with the Pennsylvania Public School Code, Board policy, professional ethics, mandated reporting requirements, student-record/privacy requirements, and other applicable state and federal law. 18.Participate constructively on district and building leadership teams; share information appropriately; support final team decisions; collaborate across departments; and approach decisions from a district-first, student-centered perspective. 19.Assume responsibility for administration of the school in the Principal’s absence 20.Perform other duties consistent with the nature and level of the position as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED AND DESIRED Required: 1.Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, administration, or a related field. 2.Valid Pennsylvania Principal PK—12 administrative certification. 3.At least three years of satisfactory instructional or student-support experience consistent with PDE requirements for principal certification. 4.All background checks, clearances, mandated trainings, and other employment requirements applicable to Pennsylvania public-school administrators. Desired: 1.Successful teaching, instructional-coaching, student-support, or administrative experience at the elementary level. 2. rior experience as an assistant principal, dean, principal, or comparable building-level leader at any level. 3.Experience with structured literacy, MTSS, data cycles, positive behavior systems, restorative practices, and/or professional learning communities. 4.Experience supervising/evaluating employees and leading adult professional growth. 5.Evidence of successful family/community engagement and collaborative problem-solving.
