Leave Replacement Self-Contained Middle School Teacher

Title: Leave Replacement Self-Contained Middle School Teacher, $200/day Position Type: Leave Replacement - October 6, 2026 through October 30, 2026 Overview We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate Special Education Teacher for a leave replacement position working with middle school students in a self-contained setting. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with multiple disabilities, including autism, and a passion for creating a structured, inclusive environment that promotes academic, social, and functional growth. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Environment: Design and maintain a structured, nurturing, self-contained classroom tailored to students with developmental and cognitive disabilities. Curriculum Implementation: Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies, accommodations, and adaptive techniques to help students reach individual academic, social, and behavioral goals. IEP Management & Progress Monitoring: Track, document, and evaluate student progress; adjust instructional methods as needed and participate actively in IEP meetings. Collaboration: Partner with general educators, therapists, specialists, and families to deliver a cohesive, supportive educational experience. Classroom Management: Establish a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom culture while adhering to school policies on behavior tracking and reporting. Required Qualifications Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification with a Special Education endorsement (e.g., Teacher of Students with Disabilities / TOESD). Demonstrated experience working with students with multiple disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders. In-depth understanding of evidence-based instructional practices and accommodations for special education. Strong communication, patience, empathy, and classroom management skills. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience managing a self-contained or specialized classroom setting. Formal training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or positive behavior support strategies. Experience integrating assistive technology and adaptive learning tools into daily instruction.
