6th Grade Teacher LTS- Math/Science

An anticipated long term sub vacancy is anticipated at Pottsgrove Middle School. Pottsgrove teachers develop curriculum and lesson plans, and present those lessons to their students, individually or in groups. They track the progress of their students and create reports to inform parents about their progress. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment in order to optimize student capabilities and develop their love of learning. This position will be part of the close-knit community of Pottsgrove staff who positively impact the lives of students each day. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide daily instruction in 6th grade science and mathematics aligned with district curriculum, Pennsylvania Academic Standards, and established course expectations. Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that address the academic needs and learning styles of middle school students. Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, respect, responsibility, and academic growth. Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, classroom assignments, projects, quizzes, and other appropriate measures. Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students regarding their academic performance and areas for improvement. Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate interventions and enrichment to meet the varied academic needs of students. Implement established classroom procedures, routines, and behavioral expectations consistent with Pottsgrove Middle School and district policies. Maintain accurate student records, including grades, attendance, assignments, assessment data, and other required documentation. Collaborate with grade-level teachers, department members, special education staff, counselors, and administration to support student achievement and address academic or behavioral needs. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom expectations, academic concerns, and accomplishments as appropriate. Utilize instructional technology, curricular resources, and available data to enhance instruction and support student learning in science and mathematics. Participate in school responsibilities and professional activities, including team meetings, professional development, duties, conferences, and other responsibilities associated with the long-term substitute teaching position. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Active and valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate for the elementary level. Prior teaching experience while not required may be preferred. An understanding of the latest instructional strategies in academic areas. Valid clearances dated within one year.
