Literacy Coach K-5 Tenure Track (anticipated)
Requirements: Appropriate certification New Jersey Department of Education Reading Specialist or Elementary Certificate with five years of K-5 teaching experience required. Master's Degree in Reading or Orton-Gillingham Multi-Sensory IMSLEC certificate preferred. Knowledge of New Jersey Tiered System of Supports (NJTSS) and data analysis helpful. An understanding of how to model for and coach K-5 general education teachers as they engage in both balanced and structured literacy practices. Create, curate, organize, and share instructional materials to support teachers. Organize and implement professional learning opportunities for teachers including push-in coaching cycles, book studies, workshops, lab sites, learning walks, institutes, presentations; these may be conducted before or after school, during in-service days, and at faculty, grade group, and content area meetings. Act as a consultant for literacy intervention by serving on building-based problem-solving teams: create instructional action plans; analyze student achievement data; and review progress monitoring. Conduct screening and diagnostic assessments to identify at-risk students. Engage in K-5 curriculum writing, as needed, for additional compensation, per contract. Candidates should be willing to learn from and with colleagues in a collaborative environment, stretching themselves to continuously grow their craft. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with all stakeholders including students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
