Elementary School Teacher (Gifted and Talented) TOPS
Vacancy for the 2026-2027 School Year QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree required Masters Degree Preferred Hold a New Jersey Teaching Certificate Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of STEM concepts and Career Readiness, and Life Skills standards through NJSLS Experience in researching topics involving Gifted and Talented programs and exploring resources appropriate for elementary curriculum. RESPONSIBILITY: The Gifted and Talented teacher delivers enrichment lessons to students that exemplify the characteristics of a gifted and talented student as indicated in their assessments, report cards and/or via teacher recommendations. The G&T teacher travels amongst buildings to ensure that all students qualifying receive enrichment support. The G&T teacher collaborates with building administrators and district Senior Lead Educators to align Gifted and Talented instruction with NJ State Standards. FUNCTION: He/She will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to identify high-performing students and create a schedule for providing academic enrichment services. PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES: 1. Delivers academic gifted and talented assessments. 2. Surveys staff for teacher recommendations. 3. Creates communications for parents regarding acceptance into the program. 4. Designs curriculum and identifies resources for successful implementation. 5. Identifies student lists for NJ SMART Report submission 6. Develops a schedule that allows for flexible grouping 7. Attends ongoing professional development to remain abreast of G&T best practices. 8. Designs supports and professional development to support general education classroom teachers with accommodations for Gifted and talented students. 9. Provides recommendations to improve district policies and school-based implementation; interviews and surveys staff and other stakeholders to determine opportunities for improvement; and researches specific issues and develops detailed recommendations and implementation plans to insure continuous improvement and innovation. 10. To perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
