Position Details

Position Summary The Title I Reading Specialist plays a critical role in accelerating literacy achievement by providing evidence-based instruction aligned with science of reading to students requiring targeted support. The specialist will use student assessment data to inform instructional decisions, monitor student progress, and demonstrate measurable outcomes which contribute to improved literacy performance and academic success. The Title I Reading Specialist collaborates closely with classroom teachers, school administrators, and families to ensure interventions are aligned with student needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Analyze screening, diagnostic, benchmark, and formative assessment data to identify students requiring targeted reading intervention. Develop individualized or small-group intervention plans using evidence-based practices which target literacy gaps. Create engaging learning experiences for adolescent readers which accelerate literacy growth and promote student confidence. Establish measurable student learning goals, conduct progress monitoring, adjust learning plans to maximize effectiveness. Prepare reports demonstrating student growth, achievement gains, and intervention outcomes Share expertise in the science of reading with teachers. Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth, intervention goals, and strategies for supporting reading development at home. Maintain compliance with Title I regulations Participate in professional development related to reading instruction, assessment, and intervention. Required Qualifications Valid PA Reading Specialist Certification Minimum of three years of teaching experience Knowledge, Skills, and Dispositions · Knowledge of effective secondary instructional practices. · Ability to build trusting relationships. · Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
