SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT EPR POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Middle School Speech/Debate Responsible to: Middle School Principal/Associate Principal Description of Club/Activity: This organization promotes the written and verbal skills of the middle school students through practice for and participation in events of the middle school level Forensics League Length of Season or Duration of Activity/Club: September - March Qualifications: ● Written and verbal communication skills ● Knowledge of or willingness to learn all aspects of the role of the Forensics Moderator within the Forensics competitive League (SPFL) ● An understanding of the middle level student ● Strong desire to work with middle level students Job Goal: ● To provide students the opportunity to develop and practice speaking skills ● To enable students to demonstrate speaking skills in concert with other middle schools ● To build self-confidence in middle school students ● To encourage students to pursue continued development of acquired skills in subsequent years as opportunities arise Performance Responsibilities: ● Organize and maintain a Middle School Forensics League ● Attend trainings/meetings necessary to competently facilitate the organization ● Hold regularly scheduled after-school practices to adequately prepare students for the competitions ● Communicate with parents as to the activities involved and student responsibilities ● Coordinate with other moderators to prepare materials for the competitions ● Encourage parents to participate as judges and chaperones as needed ● Train volunteer judges for the competitions ● Participate in meets regularly throughout the school year ● Host a SPFL competition ● Submit yearly goals at the start of the school year and submit summary of goals in an end of the year report Alignment of EPR to the District’s mission statement Forensics promotes excellence in academics and communication. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the principal/associate principal and communicated to the Superintendent. Payment: Payment for this activity will be made-this will be determined by Administration by the duration of EPR
