Health & Physical Education Teacher
Southeast Delco School District Health & Physical Education Teacher Darby Township School Reports to: Darby Township Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with co-teachers, coaches, staff and administration to plan and deliver an educational P.E. program in line with the mission, vision, and values of the Southeast Delco School District. Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual or team sports, utilizing curriculum designated PDE and other appropriate learning activities. Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students. Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary. Maintains control of storage and use of school property. Manage the Physical Education materials, ensuring adequate supplies and safe, working conditions of materials. Evaluates each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports. Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress. Supervise and support students’ social and emotional learning through sport and play. Support the building of a student play culture that values inclusivity, sportsmanship, and kindness. Administers testing in accordance with division testing practices. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Perform other duties assigned by the Building Administration. Required Skills & Abilities: Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others. Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students, and patrons of the District. Ability to recognize that each person is a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage. Knowledge of PA Core Standards and Eligible Content Ability to courageously lead conversations focused on equity, closing opportunity gaps, and equal access to technology-infused lessons of rigor. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with District staff and administrators, students, parents or guardians, outside agencies, and the public, in a multi-ethnic, multicultural, multilingual environment. Ability to receive and implement feedback to improve practice and systems. Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and/or Health and Wellness from accredited college or university required Valid Pennsylvania Certification: Health & Physical Education PK-12 Master's Degree in Education or a related field of study desired 2+ years of experience teaching in education environment desired Pre-employment Requirements: Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, FBI fingerprinting Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (ACT 168) School Personnel Health Record and TB test Physical Requirements: Able to move and lift 25 lbs Subject to outdoor weather conditions Pushing, moving and lifting objects with a strength factor of light work Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard office equipment Clarity of vision at varying distances Verbal, auditory and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner Sitting and standing for extended periods of time Frequent sitting, standing and walking Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies Occasional kneeling, crouching and squatting Occasional bending, reaching and stretching Occasional pulling, pushing Level of Compensation: $54,000 - $104,000 (dependent on Step and Track placement as deterined based on collective bargaining agreements)
