Student Family Support Coordinator
Position: Student Family Support Coordinator Location: Milford School District Reports To: Principal/Supervisor of Student Services Starting Date: September 2026 Application Deadline: September 4, 2026 Note: All staff are hired by Milford School District rather than a specific building. Final placement is subject to change based on district staffing needs. The building assignment is to be determined. Overview of the Position: The Student and Family Support Coordinator supports students and families by addressing social, emotional, behavioral, and environmental barriers that may affect student well-being, attendance, and academic success. The coordinator provides direct services, connects families with school and community resources, and collaborates with families, school personnel, community organizations, and government agencies to promote positive outcomes for students. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in behavioral science, psychology, social services, or a closely related field. Current Delaware LCSW or LMSW license and any required Delaware Department of Education certification. Knowledge of or experience working with families to access support from state and community agencies. Knowledge of the issues and unique barriers facing English Learners and their families. Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Haitian Creole preferred. Support effective communication between schools and Haitian Creole-speaking students and families, including coordinating interpretation and translation services as needed. Serve as a liaison between the District and organizations that support the local Haitian Creole-speaking community. Respond to student and family crises in accordance with district policies and procedures and coordinate appropriate follow-up and wraparound services. Counsel students individually or in groups to address concerns related to attendance, family relationships, health, and emotional adjustment. Conduct ongoing clinical assessments and provide treatment to students and families. Develop and implement treatment plans. Conduct individual and family therapy sessions. Prepare a diagnostic summary for each student evaluated. Assess student and family progress and recommend strategies for continued improvement. Provide family support services, including short-term family therapy, family liaison services, and home visits, as appropriate. Collaborate with families and parents or guardians to identify needs and address barriers to student success. Coordinate services with community and government agencies when students or families need additional support. Maintain current knowledge of local and state resources and make appropriate referrals for students and families. Collaborate with student services staff to remove barriers to regular school attendance. Collaborate with the District's Homeless Liaison to support students experiencing homelessness or displacement and unaccompanied youth. Participate in programs and committees established by Board policy, including attendance committees, special education meetings, and Individualized Education Program conferences. Participate as a member of Individualized Education Program and Section 504 teams and collaborate with classroom teachers to align accommodations and supports. Participate actively as a member of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports team. Coordinate or provide wraparound services that integrate appropriate classroom support for students. Serve as a liaison among students, families, community agencies, school personnel, and classroom staff. Provide direct support and professional learning opportunities to increase staff members' knowledge and skills related to students' social, emotional, and academic well-being. Design and present in-service workshops as requested. Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments and services provided. Perform other duties as assigned. Terms of Employment: Ten-month (10) full-time employee.
