Certified School Nurse (CSN) @ Pivik Elementary School

The Plum Borough School District is seeking a compassionate, student-centered healthcare professional to serve as a Certified School Nurse (CSN). This position plays a vital role in supporting student health, safety, and readiness to learn across grades PK-12. The CSN blends clinical expertise with educational insight to ensure that every student is healthy, supported, and positioned for success. Primary Responsibilities Provide skilled nursing care for injuries, acute illness, and chronic health conditions. Develop and monitor Individualized Health Plans, Emergency Action Plans, and related supports for students with medical needs. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and district policy. Respond to medical emergencies with professionalism and sound judgment. Ensure compliance with Pennsylvania immunization requirements and complete required state health reporting. Conduct mandated health screenings, including vision, hearing, scoliosis, and growth assessments. Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, and state regulations. Participate in IEP, 504, and Student Assistance Program meetings to support student wellness. Serve as a liaison among families, healthcare providers, school staff, community agencies, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Promote wellness initiatives, disease prevention practices, and a safe school environment. Oversee health room operations, medical equipment readiness, and nursing supply management. Qualifications Pennsylvania Department of Education certification as a School Nurse PK-12. Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required. Strong clinical assessment skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in nursing or related field. Experience in pediatric, public health, acute care, or school nursing. Experience supporting students through special education processes and interdisciplinary teams.
